Outdoor burning allowed

As of last Saturday, the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency opened the outdoor residential burning season for yard waste such as leaves and lawn trimmings.

The agency’s public information officer, Mark Edler, notes that a permit must be purchased and the outdoor burn season only applies to unincorporated areas of Yakima County that are outside of city limits and urban growth areas.

Residential outdoor burning will be allowed to continue until Oct. 15, 2014, but is to be halted during times when the agency calls burn bans due to poor air quality.
