Police seek weekend burglary suspects

Sunnyside police investigated two reports of burglaries this past weekend.

Officers were called to the 1400 block of South Sixth Street just after midnight Sunday morning to investigate a break-in. A person of interest was detained at the scene. Taken in the burglary was a television set.

Police were also called to investigate a burglary last Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of South 15th Street in which a television and an xbox360 unit were taken. Police believe the thieves gained entrance into the house through a window.

Last Friday evening police also investigated a report of homes being egged in the South Ninth Street and East Jackson Avenue neighborhoods. Neighbors reported seeing a suspicious looking vehicle driving in circles in the area.

Officers also investigated a series of noise complaints, including a report of loud music from a church in the 900 block of East Edison Avenue and from a restaurant on Yakima Valley Highway.

Also during the past weekend, Sunnyside officers investigated a report of shoplifting involving liquor from the 600 block of South Sixth Street, seven reports of automatic business alarms, one residential alarm, nine animal complaints, three civil matters, one disorderly conduct report, two reports of harassment, five juvenile complaints, one domestic violence report, two reports of sex crimes, seven suspicious circumstances, three traffic stops and one report of trespassing.

Additionally, Sunnyside police provided three agency assists, served two arrest warrants, made three citizen assists, received five informational calls, served five warrants and made two public service contacts since last Friday.
