Skipping school a no-no

A juvenile not wanting to take state-required school examinations earned an uncomfortable ride to school from the Sunnyside police Tuesday morning.

The parent of the youth called the police requesting help to get the child to high school in time to take the tests.

Also yesterday, police investigated a report of two suspicious-looking men jumping over a fence in the 1000 block of South 15th Street. The men were located and both were detained on charges of trespassing and possession of illegal substances.

In other investigations, police took into custody a man accused of shoplifting in the 2600 block of East Lincoln Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Officers also took information regarding a report of graffiti in the 300 block of South Seventh Street.

In other activity, officers investigated a report of an automatic alarm, two animal complaints, a report of fraud, one harassment complaint, two noise complaints, removed one unwanted guest and made one traffic stop.

Sunnyside officers also provided one agency assist, fielded one informational calls, served one arrest warrant and made two public service contacts during the past 24 hours.
