Shoplifters swipe liquor from Safeway

Since yesterday (Wednesday) Sunnyside police have responded to a number of calls, including a shoplifting incident at Safeway.

An employee reported witnessing two young men in their teens or early 20s taking liquor from the store. The individuals fled the scene in what was believed to be a Volkswagen Passat.

Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Sunnyside police have also since yesterday received a report of an abandoned vehicle, responded to two automatic alarms, received a complaint about an animal, attempted to locate an individual being sought by authorities, responded to a reported disorderly incident, responded to a domestic violence call, investigated a fight, handled two juvenile problems, responded to a loud music call, received a runaway juvenile report, investigated two reports of suspicious activity, made three traffic stops, investigated a vandalism incident and investigated an illegal dumping report.

Police, too, made seven public service visits, provided three agencies and two citizens with assistance, fielded three informational calls and provided two welfare checks.
