Steelhead fishing to close

Steelhead fishing on the upper Columbia River and its tributaries will close one hour after sunset next Monday, March 31.

The closing of the steelhead season will be in effect on the mainstem Columbia River from Rock Island Dam to 400 feet below Chief Joseph Dam, and on the Wenatchee River from the mouth to 400 feet below Tumwater Dam, including the Icicle River from the mouth to 500 feet downstream of the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery Barrier Dam.

Steelhead fishing will also close on the Methow, Okanogan and Similkameen rivers.

The reason for the closure of the fishing season is that most steelhead will be spawning beginning in April.
