‘Celebrate Sunnyside’ scheduled for April 8 open to all townsfolk

Community residents are invited to take part in a special tour that will showcase Sunnyside’s most recent transformations.

Tuesday, April, 8, the city of Sunnyside, Sunnyside School District, Sunnyside Community Hospital and Port of Sunnyside will be joining together to celebrate the community’s continued growth and success with a special day of ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, tours and special announcements.

The “Celebrate Sunnyside” event will be held at various locations around the community throughout the morning and early afternoon, including a hosted lunch.

Community residents and the media are invited to attend all or any of the events. A bus will be available to transport attendees from site to site. Attendees interested in traveling on the bus should park in the Central Park parking lot and meet at Centennial Square at 9 a.m. for the start of the festivities.

The day’s activities include:

9 a.m. - Downtown revitalization celebration at Centennial Square (Sixth Street and Edison Avenue)

9:30 a.m. - Sunnyside High School addition construction tour (1801 E. Edison Ave.)

10 a.m. - New service announcement at Sunnyside Community Hospital (1016 Tacoma Ave.)

10:30 a.m. - Port of Sunnyside anaerobic digester groundbreaking at Port of Sunnyside water lab (747 Midvale Rd.)

11:15 a.m. - YV-Tech Sunnyside Campus ribbon cutting and tour (437 Barnard Blvd.)

12 p.m. - BBQ lunch at YV-Tech (437 Barnard Blvd.)

12:30 p.m. – Sunnyside Fire Station ribbon cutting and tour at Sunnyside Fire Station (513 S. 8th St.)
