A program to answer questions about marijuana from its history, legalization to its effect on the human body, will be the topics discussed at a program to be presented Thursday, May 8, at the Sunnyside Community Center, 1521 S. 1st Street. Open to the public, the workshop will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The presentation is co-sponsored by Sunnyside United-Unidos, Transformation Sunnyside and Central Washington Comprehensive Metal Health. The May 8 program, “Marijuana: What you need to Know,” is the first in a series of educational programs, to make Sunnyside better, according to Cathy Kelley, Sunnyside United director.
She said Dr. Stephen Freng of the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program will be the guest speaker. A panel discussion, of local law enforcement, medical and businesses will be available for a question and answer session.
The information, which will include topics from employer rights to drug testing in the workplace, will be available in English and Spanish.
Kelley said future programs in the Making Sunnyside Better Series will include helping children in adverse situations, maximizing youth potential and underage drinking.
