‘Jazz in the Cellar’ benefit on tap

YAKIMA – For jazz lovers and those who want to attend a special event in the spirit of a big speakeasy, Dispute Resolution Center of Yakima and Kittitas Counties is offering its annual “Jazz in the Cellar” non-profit fundraiser at Pioneer Hall on the State Fair Park grounds in Yakima on Friday, May 9, beginning at 6 p.m.

This year, a Cajun buffet dinner is included with admission.

The Bart Roderick Jazz Trio will provide an evening of jazz…and, well-known jazz vocalist, Cathy Kloster, will be part of the evening’s festivities.

To fit with the theme, everyone is encouraged to come in period dress – after all, it’s the jazz age and time to share and dance the night away.

Those wishing to keep a memory of the evening will have a chance to have their photograph taken with two vintique cars at the front entrance.

There will be prizes for best costumes at the event.

It promises to be a great evening – jazz, auction items and memories.  The live and silent auctions will feature special hand-crafted Mother’s Day and spring garden gifts, as well as unique wine and beer baskets, autographed Seahawks memorabilia, golf and fishing packages.

All proceeds go to the not-for-profit Dispute Resolution Center of Yakima and Kittitas Counties to provide its services of mediation, business assistance, mediation training and other programs throughout the two counties.

Tickets are $50 apiece for the May 9 event. Businesses wanting to provide corporate sponsorship are encouraged to contact Jodi at 509-453-8949.

Tickets can be purchased at http://jazzinthecellar.brownpapertickets.com/, www.drcyakima.org, or by calling 509-453-8949.
