Sunnyside traffic accidents reported during the past 48 hours included a non-injury accident at the intersection of South 16th Street and East Lincoln Avenue involving a Sunnyside police officer.
The Wednesday afternoon accident involved two vehicles colliding in the intersection at approximately 4:16 p.m., during heavy school traffic in the area, according to Sunnyside Police Commander Scott Bailey.
The incident is under investigation and no estimates regarding the damage to either vehicle is available. Bailey said the name of the officer involved will not be released until the investigation is complete.
On Thursday, officers also investigated a non-injury accident in the 700 block of East Lincoln Avenue. No other details were available.
In other activity Sunnyside police investigated a report of a missing GPS unit taken from a truck parked in the 1800 block of South First Street.
Police also investigated four animal complaints, an automatic business alarm, a report of a domestic violence incident, one report of a DUI, a juvenile problem, two reports of malicious mischief, one report of trespassing, a report of an assault involving two men fighting in the 400 block of Yakima Valley Highway and a report of a person ingesting 50 tablets of over the counter pain medication. The person was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital for medical attention.
Officers also served one arrest warrant, fielded two informational calls and made three welfare checks.
