Battery cables cut in car prowl

Yakima County Sheriff deputies investigated a report of a vehicle prowl in the 400 block of Fifth Avenue near Mabton yesterday (Wednesday).

The victim reported finding the hood of his vehicle up and battery cables in the vehicle cut. According to deputies, the victim said the windows of the vehicle had been broken out last week.

Deputies also are investigating a report of gasoline stolen from a van parked on Wing Hill Road near Grandview.

Yesterday afternoon deputies received a report of internet fraud, as well. The victim reported the loss of $4,000 in an apparent scam perpetuated through Craigslist.

Deputies also responded to the 900 block of Southwest Crescent Road near Sunnyside after a complaint of a cow running loose and eating the reporting party’s grass.

Also yesterday, deputies investigated two reports of suspicious activity, two complaints of weapons offenses, an automatic alarm, a report of a runaway juvenile and a report of an animal problem.
