Erratic driver spawns numerous calls to different police agencies

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office was one of several agencies that responded to a report of a drunk driver late last night (Wednesday).

Reports of a vehicle being driven erratically started reaching local police at about 11 p.m. from the WalMart Distribution Center in Grandview. The vehicle continued on Yakima Valley Highway towards Sunnyside with multiple callers reporting it to various law enforcement agencies.

The vehicle eventually crashed on Alexander Road near the intersection with North Puterbaugh Road at about 11:15 p.m., but then continued southbound on Puterbaugh, according to multiple witnesses.

The vehicle was eventually stopped and the driver taken into custody by the Washington State Patrol.

Yesterday afternoon deputies responded to a burglary report in the 2700 block of Independence Road near Outlook. A front window was broken and a television was stolen.

Since yesterday morning deputies have also handled a report of an animal problem and a report of trespassing.
