Child suffers minor scrapes in auto accident

An accident reported to Sunnyside police Monday night from the 1400 block of Ida Belle Lane involved a child being hit by a car. According to the police report, the child suffered minor scrapes and abrasions, but no major injuries. The child was released to his parents.

Sunnyside police are also investigating a report of fraud involving an identity theft. The fraud was discovered when the victim tried to apply for a loan and found someone else was utilizing his personal information. The case has been turned over to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

A routine traffic stop involving a charge of littering resulted in a driver being booked into the Sunnyside jail on charges of driving while license suspended Monday morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of North First Street and East Warehouse Avenue.

A report of a stolen vehicle from the 1300 block of South 11th Street was later discovered to be a false alarm.

In addition, police investigated five reports of automatic alarms, three animal complaints, one citizen dispute, two reports of juvenile problems, two reports of malicious mischief, one noise complaint and two suspicious circumstances.

Police also provided one agency assist, served one arrest warrant and a court order during the past 24 hours.
