Burglars make good on one of two attempts on Grandview’s Larson Street

GRANDVIEW – Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) a resident in the 500 block of Larson Street reported a burglary to police. Entry into the home was apparently made through a window and the victim reported change and jewelry were missing.

Less than an hour later police received a second report from the same block. The burglars did not make entry but damaged a door while trying to get into the home. The incidents are under investigation.

Police also responded to a report of shoplifting in the 600 block of West Wine Country Road yesterday. Three male suspects are being investigated in the incident.

Last night a resident in the 500 block of South Euclid Road reported the theft of a cell phone. Police are investigating.

At about 4:30 a.m. this morning a driver fell asleep at the wheel near the intersection of West Wine Country Road and West Main Street. The vehicle left the road and struck a light pole. The driver was not injured.

A report came into police last night about a group of youths with spray paint cans in the 300 block of Wilson Highway. Officers were unable to locate the children or any damage they might have caused.

Last night police also responded to a report of a burglary in the 600 block of East Bonnieview Road to assist deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

Since yesterday morning police have also handled five reports of animal problems, three reports of suspicious activity and an automatic alarm.

In that time Grandview police officers also investigated a report of a registered sex offender violation, found lost property, conducted three traffic stops, fielded an informational call, arrested three persons wanted by authorities, provided assistance to a citizen and conducted a welfare check.
