Airport board continues city code review

Members of the Sunnyside Municipal Airport Advisory Board spent additional time this past Tuesday reviewing piece-by-piece a draft proposal for a new city code addressing airport operations.

Portions of the draft reviewed last night included aircraft operation and pilot responsibility. The board recommended revisions to the draft that included accommodations for light sport aircraft and reviewing possible areas of liability.

Also discussed Tuesday night was keeping some flexibility in the code so that the city can allow for fly-ins and other special events at the airport.

The Sunnyside Municipal Airport Advisory Board will continue its review of the policy at its next meeting on Tuesday, June 24.
