No injuries in accidents

Fender benders, run-ins with poles and a collision with a pedestrian were among the traffic reports investigated by Sunnyside police during the past 24 hours.

Police investigated a vehicle versus pole accident at the corner of Midvale Road and Port Drive yesterday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle was apparently not injured, however he was taken into custody by police.

Officers also investigated a non-injury accident reported from the parking lot in the 1800 block of East Edison Avenue. According to the report, the driver struck a student on the right shoulder with the mirror of his truck. The student was checked and released to his parent.

No one was hurt in a two-vehicle collision reported Thursday afternoon from the 60 block of East Allen Road.

Police also investigated a report of vandalism at Sunnyside’s Kiwanis Park on Doolittle Avenue Thursday. A city park employee reported that the men’s bathrooms had fresh graffiti splashed on the bathroom stalls.

Also on Thursday, Sunnyside police investigated a theft of a city water meter taken from a fire hydrant located at the corner of Waneta Road and Allen Road.

In other activity, officers investigated five suspicious circumstances, one juvenile problem, one noise complaint, two automatic alarms, and made an attempt to locate a wanted individual, who was later found and arrested.

Police also provided four agency assists, made four welfare checks and made one public service contact.
