Change order approved

GRANDVIEW – A change order, allowing the re-lining of force main that crosses the Yakima River, was approved at Tuesday’s Grandview City Council meeting.

The force main, a pipe that carries wastewater from the Euclid Lift Station to the wastewater treatment plant, needs to be re-lined, according to City Administrator Cus Arteaga.

The project is estimated to cost $207,000. However, the city’s Euclid Lift Station improvement project was completed, leaving $350,000 in USDA loan funds remaining.

Arteaga said officials at the USDA have given the city authorization to use the remaining funds to re-line the force main because it fits within the scope of the improvement project.

Additional engineering services are estimated at $40,000 for the re-lining project and a previous change order that involved rebuilding a wall at the lift station.

The council approved resolutions for both the change order and the engineering services unanimously.
