Work crew contract OK’d

YAKIMA – Yakima County commissioners yesterday (Tuesday) approved a contract between the Yakima County Department of Corrections and Prime Time, Inc. for the supervision of inmate work crews.

The non-profit organization will provide as many as eight inmate workers with non-skilled jobs at Camp Prime Time. The camp will be billed for mileage, 9 cents per hour per inmate worker, the cost of a cell phone and the daily service charge for portable toilets and a hand washing station.

The corrections department will supply the inmates and a Department of Corrections officer to oversee the work to be completed.

The two-year agreement can be renewed on an annual basis.

The commissioners approved the contract by a 3-0 vote.
