Time to dust off the old catcher’s mitt and bat.
There’s a softball tournament this coming Saturday and it’s all for a great cause.
Friends and family are getting together to honor and remember a friend, a fraternal brother of Omega Delta Phi and Alumni of Washington State University, David Quentin Hernandez.
Four years ago a tournament was created to bring together friends and family for an afternoon of softball and it became an annual event.
The tournament is a softball-sanctioned tournament and each team participating is guaranteed three games throughout the day.
Donations collected will be redistributed to the local community in the form of two scholarships. The scholarship winners will be announced at the tournament.
The tournament will be held at Sunnyview Park east of Sunnyside tomorrow (Saturday). The action will start at 9 a.m.
In an effort to raise funds for the David Q. Hernandez Memorial Scholarship, students will have a 2014 softball t-shirt sale, concession stand, barbeque and a raffle during the day’s tournament.
