SHS swimmers fall to Moses Lake 113-69


MOSES LAKE – The Sunnyside High School girls swim team collected three first place finishes in action against the Moses Lakes High School Chiefs, but ultimately fell 113-69 in events staged Thursday afternoon at the Moses Lake pool.

The Lady Grizzlies relay team of Kalie Bestebreur, Cassadie Moore, Jolissa Mendoza and Lindsay Schilperoort narrowly swept past their Moses Lakes opponents in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:07.22. The second place Chiefs’ quartet completed the distance with a time 2:08.48.

Moore went on to claim two first place wins in her events - the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breastroke. She outdistancing her nearest IM challenger with a time of 2:29.55. In second place was Jordan Richeson of Moses Lake with a time of 2:35.12. Moore went on to finish her 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:12.87, well out in front of her opponent Jaelen Garza, who finished with a 1:25.40 time.

The 200-yard relay squad of Summer Hazzard, Payton Sample, Moore and Schilperoort collected a second place finish with a time of 1:57.14, slightly behind the Moses Lake team that clocked a 1:55.36 finish.

The Lady Grizzly swimmers will next travel to Wenatchee this coming Tuesday, Oct. 14.
