Vegetable cooperative in the works

YAKIMA – The Rural Community Development Resources Center for Latino Farmers is hosting a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. for vegetable producers who may be interested in developing a cooperative to sell vegetables.

Anyone who is growing or interested in growing vegetables to sell, or who owns land or wants to lease land, are invited to attend. The purpose for the workshop is to promote, set up and train a cooperative group with vegetable production to help set up a marketing plan to increase their revenue.

There will also be a discussion about building or renovating a building for cleaning and processing vegetables for market.

The meeting will be held at the RCDR-Center for Latino Farmers (22 S. 3rd Ave. in Yakima). People should call 509-453-3157 to register or to obtain more information.
