Sheriff’s deputies track down burglary suspect last Friday

A suspect in a burglary attempt was captured by deputies last Friday morning in the 5400 block of Sunnyside Mabton Road near Grandview.

A homeowner returned home just after 10:30 a.m. to find intruders in the house and called the sheriff’s office. Deputies were able to track down a male suspect, but a female suspect escaped. The incident is currently under investigation.

This past Saturday morning deputies also received a report of stolen sprinkler heads in the 900 block of Mountainview Road near Grandview. The thieves made off with 225 of the brass devices.

Last Friday thieves also took a John Deere riding lawnmower and two catch bags from a home in the 600 block of Wellner Road near Outlook. Deputies are investigating the theft.

Deputies are also investigating a report of a stolen vehicle made yesterday afternoon (Sunday) from the 5300 block of Sunnyside Mabton Road. No details on the make or model of vehicle were available.

Last Friday a resident in the 1500 block of Bus Road near Mabton reported a neighbor’s horse had gotten loose and wandered into his yard.

Since last Friday morning Yakima County Sheriff deputies have also handled two other animal problems, a report of threats, six traffic incidents, three domestic calls, a report of a runaway juvenile, an automatic alarm, a report of suspicious activity, a civil matter and a report of malicious mischief that was turned over to Grandview police.
