As of Monday, September 22, 2014
Loving Sunnyside Initiative volunteers will be back in action this coming Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Loving Sunnyside Initiative effort over the past few years has resulted in 71 local homes receiving a fresh coat of paint and cleaner yards, not to mention the swelling pride by those whose homes have been tidied up.
With the addition of another six homes to be spruced up at this coming Saturday’s event, the Loving Sunnyside Initiative will have benefitted 77 homeowners since the program was initiated.
Volunteers of any age can join the effort, which is held each fall in recognition of “Make a Difference Day.”
A total of six homes will be provided a little TLC by those involved with Saturday’s projects, which are again being sponsored by the Sunnyside Transformation Yakima Valley group.
There are many ways volunteers can help. They can sign up to paint homes, bring food for the breakfast or lunch meals that are served to all the participants, help with clean-up or can make a financial donation to support the effort.
Organizers say 180 volunteers (or more) are needed to complete Saturday’s projects.
To sign up to participate or offer support, English speaking volunteers should call 837-5371. Spanish speaking volunteers can call 837-2252.
Registration and breakfast will be at 7 a.m. in the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church. A kick-off presentation will follow.
Volunteers will travel to the six project locations at 7:55 a.m. Lunch will be at noon and volunteers will finish their work by 2 p.m.
