Dinnie M. Henderson, 57, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Kadlec Memorial Center in Richland.
He was born Nov. 23, 1957 in Glendale, Calif. to Dinnie, Sr. and Diane (Whitney) Henderson.
He went to Wapato High School and after that enlisted in the Marines.
He married Mary Lynn Lorton of Kennewick in 1979. He was the rock of his family, made friends wherever he went and made them family.
He was well known for his work for the city of Zillah, city of Sunnyside, Sunnyside Police Department, Idaho Milk and his last employer, Vintner Logistics.
He was best known as Santa Claus for many years at the Mid-Valley Mall in Sunnyside. He loved being around people and always had a smile to greet you.
He had a passion for building and riding his motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Henderson of Kennewick; his mother, Diane (Whitney) Henderson of Peck, Idaho; one son, Dennis Welch of Joseph, Ore.; three daughters, Dede (Eric Housman) Covington of Tacoma, Janice (Jesse) Welch-Alaniz of Zillah, Lori (Dennis) Pleshich of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Bea Kable of Costa Rica and Julie Howard of Tacoma; five grandchildren, Brandon Frazier of Spokane, Derek Mendez of Zillah, Nicole Sutton and Reggina Garcia of Las Vegas, Nev. and Logan Welch of Joseph, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Mystery, Jeala and Ayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dinnie Henderson, Sr.
His family appreciates the staff and doctors of Kadlec Hospital. They showed great respect and provided enormous comfort to Dinnie and his family. Our family wishes to thank all the friends and family for all their support during such a hard time.
Following Dinnie’s wishes, there will be no formal services. The family would like to invite you to his Celebration of Life event, Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. for a potluck at the Eagles in Sunnyside (across from Bi-Mart).
