Lady Grizzlies drop two to Ike

In action last Friday, the Sunnyside Lady Grizzly softball team lost twice at home to Eisenhower, 14-2 and 19-0. Pictured is Sunnyside’s Maggie Torres taking a swing at the ball during Friday’s twin bill. Both contests ended after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. Sunnyside’s only runs of the day came in the third inning of game one on a Jacqueline Cornwell RBI base hit – one of her two hits in the opener – and on a steal of home by Samantha Longoria on a passed ball. In game two, Belen Torres had the hot bat for Sunnyside with a pair of singles. Freshman Allison Palomarez pitched both games for Sunnyside, striking out seven batters in 10 innings of work for the two games combined. Sunnyside (0-12, 1-13) hosts Wenatchee tomorrow, Tuesday, for a single game at 4 p.m.
