Woman escapes serious injury in I-82 rollover accident Tuesday

GRANGER – A young Granger woman was sent to the Toppenish hospital after rolling her car yesterday afternoon.

Washington State Patrol officials report that Brenda M. Herrera Munguia, 19, of Ganger was eastbound on I-82, about two miles east of Granger at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. She was behind the wheel of a 1999 Honda Accord four-door sedan.

WSP troopers say Munguia lost control of the car. It ended up leaving the roadway and rolling.

The Honda sustained considerable damage but was not listed as totaled. It was towed from the scene.

Munguia, whom officials said was wearing a safety restraint, reported to troopers she was uninjured. However, as a precautionary measure she was transported to Toppenish Community Hospital.

WSP officials report that neither drugs nor alcohol is believed to have been a factor in yesterday’s accident.

Munguia, though, is facing a charge of negligent driving.
