— Two Grandview residents and a woman from Sunnyside are recovering from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash at the Sheller Road and SR-241.

The crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m. yesterday when Anahi M. Rodriguez, 23, turned southbound into oncoming traffic on SR-241 from Sheller Road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 2006 Nissan Altima she was driving was struck by vehicles traveling northbound and southbound on the highway.

Rodriguez’s vehicle struck a southbound 1999 Toyota RAV4 driven by Africa Hernandez-Aguilar, 21, of Grandview. The Altima next collided with the northbound 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Alyssa C. Espinoza, 16, of Sunnyside.

Rodriguez and Hernandez-Aguilar were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital by ambulance. Espinoza was transported to the same hospital by private vehicle.

All three vehicles were damaged and towed from the scene. The other two drivers were wearing safety restraints.

Troopers say Rodriguez was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.

She has been charged with failure to yield right of way, as that was determined to be the cause of the crash.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
