GRANDVIEW More than $400,000 is on its way to improve a portion of the city’s Wine Country Road.
Tomorrow, the City Council will vote on authorizing Mayor Norm Childress to sign on the dotted line and accept $406,341 in state fuel tax funds.
The money would be used for a pavement overlay of about a half-mile stretch of Wine Country Road between Ash and Fir streets.
City officials applied for the grant and last month learned the city was selected for the funds, administered through the state’s Transportation Improvement Board.
The only hitch is if Grandview accepts the grant it will need to pay $46,149 out of pocket for a local match.
Also tomorrow, council will consider authorizing Childress to sign a $220,548 contract with Banlin Construction for a museum renovation project.
Council is also expected to consider a $15.7 million budget for 2016.
Tomorrow’s agenda includes an ordinance vacating Bonnieview Road and a contract with Yakima County for the Supporting Investments in Economic Diversity funding for improvements to Euclid and Forsell roads.
