Motorist hurt in I-82 rollover

GRANDVIEW – A 53-year-old man from Prosser suffered injuries early Sunday morning in a rollover accident on I-82.

The mishap occurred yesterday at about 5 a.m., near milepost 73 located near the Grandview city limits.

Washington State Patrol officials report Terrance P. Christensen, 53, of Prosser was driving a 2005 Chevy pick-up westbound on I-82. State troopers said Christensen lost control of the truck on the freeway. The vehicle struck the guardrail, causing the truck to roll. The pick-up landed on its wheels.

Christensen was wearing a safety restraint. He was injured, however, and transported to Prosser Memorial Hospital.

WSP officials said the Prosser motorist was driving too fast for the prevailing conditions. They also indicated an investigation is underway to confirm that either drugs or alcohol played a part in yesterday’s accident.
