Six people nabbed on theft charges in Sunnyside

Two suspects who allegedly attempted to steal a television from the Sunnyside Walmart store just after 5 a.m. this morning (Friday) are in police custody.

Employees at the store called police, giving a detailed vehicle description, after the suspects fled the store, leaving the television behind.

Officers responding to the call located the vehicle and detained the suspects.

Three juvenile males yesterday were also detained after police responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 2300 block of East Edison Avenue.

A neighbor called officers after seeing activity at the home. No one was supposed to be in it.

Officers searched the perimeter and decided to send the K-9 inside.

The three juveniles were apprehended soon after.

Two other thefts were also investigated by Sunnyside police yesterday.

A female employee suspected of stealing from Walmart was detained after the loss prevention officer called police.

Also, a stereo and diapers were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of Crescent Ave.

Officers have also since yesterday handled six animal complaints, a lost property report, a found property report, six suspicious activity calls and a vandalism report.

Police, too, provided an agency assist, a citizen assist and a welfare check, served a court order and fielded two informational calls.
