Five years ago Dani Martinez was a supervisor at Arby’s when it closed in Sunnyside.

“I was there the last day…I found out that morning,” she said of the closure.

The longtime Sunnyside resident found another job with US Bank as a teller. Five years later she’s still at the bank and just this past month was promoted to universal banker.

Today at the Sunnyside US Bank branch she splits her time between the teller window and behind the desk helping customers seeking loans, setting up on-line banking or opening new accounts.

“I love my job!” Martinez beams. “I have the best of both worlds…I have my regular customers and get to know new customers who want to join the team.”

Martinez says the bank has been providing training for her as she moves into her new role.

“I’m excited…I feel like I’m ready for the challenge,” she says.

As for what helps her sustain her enthusiasm for the banking industry over these past five years, Martinez says it again all comes down to the public.

A lifelong Sunnysider, Martinez is well familiar with the friendly faces seeking financial services at the local bank.

“Our customers are what really do it for me,” she smiles.
