Parrish nets low score for Grandview girls at Othello Invitational

OTHELLO – The Grandview High School girls golf team shook off the cobwebs at the Othello Invite yesterday.

Moses Lake claimed top honors at the par-71 Sage Hills Golf Resort with a 319 team score, led by 18-hole medalist Mikayla Chavez. She carded a 94.

Othello claimed runner-up honors with a team score of 389. Savannah Crnick had the low score for her team (116).

Veteran golfers Teagan Parrish and Reagan Colson led the Lady Greyhounds with 18-hole scores of 110 and 128, respectively.

“Reagan was very consistent,” said Grandview Coach Glenn Braman.

Colson carded a pair of front and back nine 64s.

Parrish, Braman said, played better on the back nine. She carded a 59 on the first nine holes and a 51 on the second half of the course.

“This is as good, or better, than where they finished last season,” Braman said.

The other three Grandview golfers included freshmen Adriaanna Sanchez, Krystal Bravo and Jasmin Reyna. They golfed just nine holes each yesterday.

“This was the first time they have ever played nine holes…they are all quick learners and doing a great job,” Braman said of the younger members of the squad.

Reyna carded a 77, Sanchez completed the nine holes with an 80 and Bravo’s final score was 81.

The nine-hole medalist was Moses Lake’s Charlie Sanislo, who carded a 54 on the back nine.

Also competing in the season-opening Othello Invite were golfers from Royal and Cle Elum.

The Grandview girls will return to the links next Thursday, March 19, at Black Rock Creek Golf Course. The Lady ‘Hounds, in their first CWAC match of the season, will host Prosser, Wapato and East Valley.
