Free summer meal program begins June 15

The Sunnyside School District’s free summer meal program begins on Monday, June 15, at Sierra Vista Middle School, Sunnyside High School and the Sunnyside Community Center.

Breakfast will be served Mondays through Thursdays at Sierra Vista Middle School June 15 through July 23 from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.

Lunch at that school will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

At SHS, drama camp participants will be the only people served Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19.

A morning snack will be provided to campers at 9:55 a.m. and lunch will be provided at 12:15 p.m.

The meal program at the community center will be available Mondays through Fridays, June 15 through Aug. 7. Participants in the program will be served lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There will not be a meal on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.

The summer meal program will also be available at Pioneer Elementary School Monday, June 22, through Thursday, July 23. There will be no Friday meals. Breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 8 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Participants are discouraged from bringing outside food to the meal program. Food served must be eaten on-site.

For adults, meals will be available at the cost of $2.25 for breakfast, $3.50 for lunch.

Children, ages 18 and under, will be provided meals for free.
