Home being remodeled hit by burglar

— A man in the 700 block of Maple Grove Road contacted deputies early this past Saturday morning about a possible intruder in his home.

The man was sleeping in a trailer nearby while remodeling the house, and woke to find the door of the house open. He thought the suspect might still be in the home, so he contacted the Yakima County Sheriff’s office.

Deputies and Sunnyside police checked the home and found no suspects.

Deputies also investigated a report made last Friday afternoon of bales of hay stolen from the 1600 block of Mountainview Road near Grandview.

Over the weekend, deputies handled three reports of livestock problems, including a report of cattle trucks blocking a roadway while they were being loaded, a black calf stuck in a ditch and a report of a half dozen cows in the roadway near Mabton Sunday morning.

Deputies also investigated a house egging, four reports of suspicious activity, two noise complaints, six traffic incidents, a report of threats, a report of an assault and a report of abuse this past weekend.
