Six Sunnyside homes will be getting a makeover this coming Saturday, Oct. 17, when Loving Sunnyside Initiative volunteers strike out with paint cans and brushes in hand.
There is still room for more volunteers to help with the painting of the homes scattered around the community that are in need of clean-up and a fresh coat of paint.
Individuals or groups may also volunteer to help prepare breakfast and lunch, which will be served to the volunteers during the course of the project. Donations for the cost of paint or food will also be accepted, according to Leroy Werkhoven of the Loving Sunnyside organization.
Volunteer registration will begin Saturday morning at 7 a.m. at Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church, 700 N. 16th St. Breakfast will be served between 7 and 7:45 a.m. Six teams will leave the church parking lot to begin painting at 8 a.m. Lunch and snacks will be served at all paint sites.
The expectation is that all of the homes will be cleaned and painted by 2 p.m.
All materials and supplies will be provided.
The Loving Sunnyside Initiative is in its eighth year of serving the Sunnyside community. To date, 83 homes have been cleaned and painted under the leadership of the Loving Sunnyside Initiative.
