Noon Rotary plans golf tourney

Golfing for a good cause is on tap later this month thanks to the Sunnyside Noon Rotary’s 16th annual Tee Up for Scholars tourney.

Set for Friday, Sept. 18, the golf tourney will be held at Sunnyside’s Black Rock Creek Golf Course.

Proceeds from the four-person scramble event will provide scholarships for Sunnyside youth.

Last year’s tourney, for example, netted $5,000 in scholarship funds.

The 2015 tourney tees off at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. Check-in begins at noon on Sept. 18, and participants can purchase tape to extend their putts at a cost of $5 per foot. Mulligans or do-overs will also be available at a cost of $5 each.

The total team handicap for each foursome must be at least 40, according to tourney regulations.

Registration costs are $100 per person or $400 per team, and are due no later than Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Rotary club is also seeking local businesses and/or individuals willing to sponsor a hole for the golf tourney for a donation of $200 per hole.

Another option for getting involved with the scholarship fundraiser is by donating prizes for the tourney.
