Sunnyside woman injured in rollover

TOPPENISH – Cynthia Herrera, 20, of Sunnyside was injured in a rollover accident along SR-22 three miles east of Toppenish last Friday morning.

According to state troopers, Herrera’s car was westbound on SR-22 when she tried to pass two slower moving vehicles, failing to notice an oncoming semi-truck in the eastbound lane. She swerved back into the westbound lane and overcorrected, leaving the roadway and rolling into a field.

Herrera was taken to the Toppenish hospital. She was wearing a seatbelt. Her 1999 Ford Escort was totaled. Troopers said no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. Charges of negligent driving are pending against Herrera.
