Golf tourney set for Sunday

MERIT Resource Services’ only fundraising event of the year, The Bill Hayes Memorial Tournament at Black Rock Creek Golf Course, will tee off this coming Sunday at 9 a.m.

Named for one of MERIT’s former members of the board of directors, the annual golf tourney generates enough money for three $1,000 college scholarships awarded each year to graduating seniors in the Yakima Valley and Kittitas County.

The golf tourney at Black Rock Creek, located near Sunnyside, is a 4-person scramble format with prizes going to the top three net scoring teams.

Registration cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team. Hole sponsorships are $100 each.

Tom Denchel Ford Country also is offering a hole-in-one prize at Sunday’s tourney.
