Grandview man charged following domestic violence incident

— A man is in court facing charges of attempted murder after a domestic violence incident last night.

Gaspar Garcia Villicana, 37, is being charged with second-degree attempted murder and domestic violence.

Just before midnight Thursday, police were called to the 600 block of North Fourth Street after a woman called from a neighbor’s home requesting help. Police said she told them her son threatened to kill her, then stabbed her, police records show.

When police arrived, Villicana would not leave his home, police said. Officers surrounded the building and took Villicana into custody after a stand-off lasting about an hour-and-a-half, records show.

Police said Villicana was taken into custody after being tazed.

Villicana was taken to a local hospital and treated for a self-inflicted knife wound before being transported to Yakima County Jail, police said.

The female victim was treated at the hospital and released.

Yakima County Sheriff deputies, Benton County Sheriff deputies, Prosser police and Sunnyside police assisted during the incident.
