— The Sunnyside Christian golf team hosted Warden and Riverside Christian yesterday at Black Rock Creek Golf Course.

The Knights led team scoring with a low 364, followed by Warden with 402 and Riverside Christian with 422.

Johnny Heffron led the way with a low score of 85, which tied him for medalist.

Brady Bofman 91, Adrian Heffron 92, and Daniel Fitzgerald 96, rounded out the rest of the Knights scores.

Tyler McKinney also competed for Sunnyside Christian, shooting a 102.

Statistics were not reported by Riverside Christian and Warden.

The Knights have only one upperclassman on the team with four freshman.

“We’re an extremely young squad,” coach Grant Smith said. “I’ve known these boys for a few years. They’re a fun group to work with, and not only good golfers, but good kids.”

The Knights began the season with a jamboree and have competed in two competitions so far, having previously placed fourth among 21 teams at the Grandview Invite.

“We were very pleased, to say the least, with the result and we can only get better,” Smith said.

Sunnyside Christian competes at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Moses Pointe Golf Course in Moses Lake.
