Sunnyside hospital buys surgery center

— Sunnyside Community Hospital is purchasing its second Yakima-based medical practice in the past two months.

Hospital officials announced Friday the purchase of Yakima Ambulatory Surgical Center, a multi-specialty surgery center.

“This opportunity fits well with our mission to provide quality comprehensive care to the region,” Sunnyside Community Hospital and Clinics Chief Executive Officer John Gallagher said. “We view this as an investment in the entire Yakima Valley that will provide patients with high-level services close to home.”

“This agreement will benefit Yakima by providing patients with even more access to a variety of surgical and specialty care services,” Dr. John Adkison, co-owner of Yakima Ambulatory Surgical Center said. “We believe the team at Sunnyside will provide excellent management and direction for the future growth of the center.”

Yakima Ambulatory Surgical Center currently provides a wide range of surgical services, including orthopedics, ophthalmology and neurosurgery.

The center has three operating rooms, one procedure room and comprehensive pre and post-surgical care areas.

In May, Sunnyside Community Hospital purchased NOVA Health of Yakima, owned by Dr. Dave Atteberry.

The clinic offers brain, spine and pain management, podiatry and plastic surgery.
