Charges filed in bomb threat case

— A local man is facing several charges, including threats to bomb.

Andrew M. Gomez, 39, appeared for a preliminary hearing in Yakima County Superior Court yesterday for the bomb-threat charge, as well as second-degree assault, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.

He was arrested Sunday after the woman he was dating, who is the mother of his twin children, reported his threats to police, records show.

Gomez allegedly threatened his girlfriend and strangled her from behind during a dispute, records show.

He allegedly threatened to burn down her home before fleeing the scene, records show.

A police officer had to pursue him on foot and arrested him in a corn field.
