SUNNYSIDE Parking changes are in store, as are parades, for residents and visitors alike tonight and tomorrow.
The third annual Kids Lighted Christmas Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. today.
The parade route begins on Edison Avenue in front of Centennial Square, between Fifth and Sixth Streets.
From there, the procession will turn right on Sixth Street, heading south down to Franklin Avenue.
At Franklin Avenue, the parade route will turn around and proceed north on Sixth Street to Decatur Avenue. It will turn in front of Fashion Corner and back down to Edison Avenue, finishing in front of Centennial Square.
Registration and staging prior to the parade will be 5-6:10 p.m. at Centennial Square.
The Lighted Farm Implement Parade at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow starts at Reith Way, turns left on Barnard Boulevard, then right on to East Edison Avenue.
From there, the procession will stay on East Edison all the way through downtown Sunnyside.
The procession then heads north on Zillah Avenue, continuing on to South First Street and heading north.
Parade entrants then may exit on Yakima Valley Highway.
Check in for parade entrants is 1:30-3:45 p.m. today on Van Nutley Drive, near Golob Landing.
No parking is permitted along the parade route.
Streets designated for the processions will be closed to motor vehicle traffic during the parades.
City officials confirmed the street closures yesterday.
Also, Edison Avenue will be closed today between Barnard
Boulevard and Van Nutley Drive due to parade staging and procession.
