Toddler dies in Mattawa crash

— A two-year-old girl died and two others were injured following a crash Friday night.

The State Patrol said Omar Ledesma-Adame, 17, of Mattawa was driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica south on state Highway 243, 10 miles south of Mattawa, when the vehicle left the roadway, flipped and came to rest on its top.

The two-year-old Mattawa girl who died in the crash was not wearing a safety belt or in a car seat, the State Patrol said.

Ledesma-Adame was injured and taken to Kadlec Medical Center. Another passenger, Rosa Maria Adame, 50, also of Mattawa, was injured but not transported for care, trooper said.

The State Patrol said it is not known if Adame or Ledesma-Adame were wearing seat belts. Troopers said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, which totalled the Pacifica.

The cause of the crash and possible charges are under investigation, the State Patrol said.
