Local students earn four-year scholarships

— Four local students will have all four years of college paid for thanks to a scholarship from Heritage University.

Anahi Morales of Granger, Daniel Moreno Leon and Monica Romero of Sunnyside, as well as John Schab of Prosser are among 11 Yakima Valley students earning the university’s Act Six Leadership Scholarships.

This year’s group of Act Six recipients were honored during a celebration last night.

Selected through a three-month competition from among more than 100 applicants valley-wide, the students were chosen for their leadership, academic potential and commitment to making a difference in their communities.

In 2002, the Northwest Leadership Foundation launched the Act Six initiative in Tacoma. It arrived in the Yakima Valley in 2010 through the efforts of The Yakima Leadership Foundation.
