As of Monday, January 4, 2016
The first baby of 2016 born at Sunnyside Community Hospital arrived at 8:27 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Kevin Delgado was born to Georgina Mendoza and Mavro Delgado of Sunnyside. He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
The family was presented with a gift basket filled with a quilt, baby books, toys, diapers and Burt’s Bees baby products, hospital spokeswoman Sandra Linde said.
Additionally, the basket contained a hand-crocheted blanket made by Katie Martin of Sunnyside.
Linde said Martin’s blanket is a special addition to the basket because it was auctioned at the annual Festival of Trees. The individual with the winning bid chose to donate the blanket to the first baby of the year.
Citing privacy laws, Linde said she could not provide additional information about the family.
PMH Medical Center in Prosser did not confirm as of press time whether its first baby of 2016 had arrived.
