Mark Douglas Van Hollebeke

Mark Douglas Van Hollebeke, 63, went to be with Our Lord after his battle with cancer ended, Friday, Dec. 31, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home in Sunnyside.

He was born on March 5, 1952, to Floyd and Marian (Hoffman) Van Hollebeke in Pasco.

Mark graduated from Grandview High School in 1970. He married the love of his life, Jeanine Bos on Oct. 1, 1971, in Sunnyside.

He began his career by managing “Tire Town” in Kennewick and West Richland. In 1973 he began working for “Chicos,” the family business in Sunnyside. The name “Chicos” was changed in 1978 to “Chatterbox.” All those who live in the Lower Valley have fond memories of “Chatterbox” and its wonderful food and atmosphere. In 1996 he started Vanmar Insurance, which he owned and operated with his son, Dustin, at the time of his passing.

Mark enjoyed visits to Zillah for the auctions, traveling to the ocean and fantasy football. He cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

Mark was an amazing man with a big heart. He would truly give anything to those who were in need, he wanted the world to be a happy place and his smile and laugh made everyone a little happier and their day a little brighter. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Jeanine (Bos) Van Hollebeke of Sunnyside; his son, Dustin (Lisa) Van Hollebeke of Sunnyside; and grandson, Stephan; his brother, Lloyd (Barb); brother, Roy; sister, Shirley (Mike); sister, Candy; several, very special nieces and nephews; and so many special friends.
