Crop insurance deadlines loom

— The deadline for growers to apply for federal whole-farm revenue protection and insurance coverage on all other spring crops (except wheat in counties with fall and spring planted types) is March 15.

The final date to apply for coverage on spring planted onions in Idaho, Oregon and Washington, and cabbage in Oregon and Washington is Feb. 1.

Current policyholders who wish to make changes to their existing coverage also have until the sales closing date to do so. Crop insurance provides protection against a loss in production due to natural perils, such as drought or excessive moisture.

More information about the program and deadlines is available at rma.usda.gov.
