ZILLAH A 36-year-old Pasco woman is in critical condition today after she was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
She was found near the fishing pond at the end of Flint Lane, lying in brush, Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. C. Sanderson said.
He declined to release the woman’s name.
She was located after deputies responded to an assistance call, he said.
Sanderson said the woman appeared to have suffered a head wound and wasn’t lucid at the time she was found.
She told deputies she walked to the location, where she was found a few days ago, he said.
Medical staff found what appeared to be a bullet in her head after she was transported to a hospital, Sanderson said.
Detectives with the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case and urge the public to call 509-574-2500 with any information.
The Yakima Valley’s waterways have been the scene of several investigations in the past couple of months.
A 20-year-old man drowned himself April 30 in an irrigation pond at a farm in the 8300 block of Beauchene Road, near Moxee.
Last month, Jose Villa-Dominguez, 26, drowned after his car went into an irrigation canal in the area of Lucy Lane and East Zillah Road near Granger.
