WAPATO Tomorrow is the first of two trainings to prepare police for an active shooter scenario.
Police will meet at the middle school at 5 p.m. tomorrow and again May 20 to conduct officer training.
School District students and staff will assist by volunteering to serve as actors and will be role playing during the events. It will be up to the volunteers to choose their level of involvement in the scenario. They can choose to serve as a simple bystander all the way up to serving as a suspect where they are actually engaging the officers in simulated gunfire.
The training scenarios are expected to last until 10 p.m. both days.
