— The Spartans girls softball team fell to Kiona-Benton, 8-1, in the first round of district playoffs yesterday.

The game went all seven innings.

Stats were not available at press time.

Granger (10-12) plays Connell (6-14) in a loser-out game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Kiona-Benton (15-6) plays Naches Valley (16-4) in the district semi-finals, with game time yet to be determined. Both games will be played Saturday at West Valley High School.

ZILLAH

KENNEWICK — The Leopards girls softball team dropped its game against River View, 10-0, in the first round of districts yesterday.

The game went only five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Stats were not available at press time.

Zillah (15-6) next faces Royal (10-10) in a loser-out game.

River View (16-5) plays top-ranked Cle Elum (15-1) in the district semi-finals, with game time yet to be determined.

The two games will be Saturday at West Valley High School.

SUNNYSIDE

CHRISTIAN

KITTITAS — The Knights softball team will begin 1B district play tomorrow against Pateros.

Game time is 11 a.m. in Kittitas.

The one-day tournament will qualify only one team to the 1B state tournament.

Last year, the Knights qualified for state and defeated Curlew, but fell one game short of a trophy.
